Production Engineering - What is it?
A Production Engineer is concerned with what happens to the fluids going from the reservoir into the production facilities.
The selection of equipment, such as tubing and flow lines, is an important aspect of production engineering. The design and selection of artificial lift, the type of completion and the performance of wells are also part and parcel of this discipline.
A model of the system is built to minimise the pressure losses and design the necessary facilities to separate the gas, oil and water - for export or disposal.
